Walk into most two-storey homes around Woodstock and the staircase is in your line of sight from the front door. If the treads are carpeted, the balusters are the builder-grade turned ones from 2003, and the handrail is honey oak, that is the first impression the house makes — regardless of what the rest of it looks like.

Common questions
Is there real wood under my stair carpet?
Often, but not always finish-grade. Builders sometimes use construction-grade treads under carpet because nobody was meant to see them. We check before quoting, because the answer changes the job.
How long are the stairs out of use?
There is a period where they cannot be walked on while coatings cure — usually overnight at minimum. In a two-storey home that needs planning, and we will tell you the timing in advance.
Can stairs be done without replacing the balusters?
Yes. Treads and risers alone make a large difference, and balusters can be refinished in place or changed later as a separate job.
